The best hospital neighbour

Anita, I will forever be grateful for having you in the bed opposite mine for my entire stay at Hammersmith hospital after surgery in Dec 2022. Talking about our cancer journeys, surgeries, experiences, life, families, and everything in-between. Meeting your lovely family and seeing what great relationships and support you all have for each other.

I was sometimes scared, in pain, frustrated or struggling but your immediate optimism, positivity and just overall vibe was so strong you kept me going, brought laughter, empathy and an attitude that we will get through this. You helped me more than you will ever know, and i hope in some way i was able to do that for you.

Your continued friendship beyond our week of craziness in Hammersmith hospital has been a source of great comfort and support to me on this unpredictable journey and I looked forward to our chats and catch ups.

I will miss you more than you know. I am so sorry we won't speak again but I cherish the talks we had, the advice and support and, dare I say, "rebellious hope". I will never forget you and the short time we knew each other. You are a warrior and an inspiration ❤️
